What is HANDYMONSTERS?

What if any of your pocket sized electronics like cell phones were customized characters? HANDYMONSTERS is just that.

The project began on Pixiv where it grew into a huge hit. Now a group has been established here on DA for internationalization.

I am re-organizing all the entries here to reflect long-overdue changes to the group rules.

Simply put, the Digital-Traditional folder has been split into their respective counterparts. Also, we are no longer accepting uncolored artwork, as each piece must be fully colored whether it's digital or traditional.

Also, both Digital and Traditional folders are for artwork featuring one HanMon only. If there is more than one, please send it to Multiple Characters. The only exception is when all characters in one picture belong to you (the owner), then it can go to the Digital/Traditional folders.

That's all for today. Over and out!

I got to check... is the group submission bugged? I tried to submit my friend's gift for me featuring my two charas. And they don't appear in the group submission message center, yet they appear in my own message center. The same thing happened to other group I recently became contributor of.

Am I being stupid of not knowing where to decide to accept or decline a submission of a group (It should be in the Message Center of the group, isn't it?), or it is a bug over DA?

Correspondence messages will only show in your personal messages if you have the status of contributor or higher (as long you have voting priviledges).

Strangely, I don't get it. Even in other group I became contributor of because they need contributors to accept submissions. Also, here in my own place it says accepted, yet it never came in the gallery, which prompts me to retry and see if there's a bug or something. It's... confusing....

Or does she have to be member here first? Since if so... I suppose to wait until she makes her first entry, which might take so long, I suppose.

It could be a bug, because sometimes group messages will not show in the message center. This is been going on-and-off ever since DA adopted the groups feature.

Unfortunately, I don't have a clear understanding of how everything works, as I generally do not include non-members' works in this group.

I start to think, after another one request not approved, I checked back and found that there is apparently no note about the requirement to join this, which is to have a Hanmon OC entry (well, "refsheet", as "entry" is details on the character, basically what artists around call a reference sheet). Maybe it needs little change in the mini-introduction part right in this very page?

Who knows, if there may be someone who would follow our footsteps. At least I happened to be one, although I am yet to fully realize it....

If you think about it, this group I made there is nothing more than an extension of the group on Pixiv. Then again, there is no real line between "official" and "non-official", because the HanMon group on Pixiv wasn't founded by inopoke either.

Anyways, I turn a lot of people away not because it's a closed group per-se. It's more on the basis of what kind (not quality) of art they produce, or capable of producing. If all you see are fan art of their favorite Pocker Monaters, then no. If you see some-closed-species adoptables, even with rainbow-y seizure-inducing colors, it's a yes. We don't focus too much on the quality of artwork, rather than the creativity of the artist.

If you disagree with me, feel free to send me a note.

Hmm, I see. You're looking for people who has their own OC (or at least adopted OC). That's sound reason, it's OK. I just happened to think it might be better if you note the (whatever) requirement to join in the intro to make it clearer.

I actually didn't think about the quality-vs-creativity as I checked some of them and they were pretty much everyday's deviants one sees around, aha.

The key point in HanMon is about character design. We want members who can design their own characters, whether they're selling (or otherwise ditributing) them as adoptables or not.

Truth to be told, finding good candidates is very hard. 90% of the population (accounts) on DA are ROM's, and out of the remaining 10%, 90% of them have no creativity whatsoever. Out of the remaining 1%, 90% of them make their own characters. Great. Now out of that 0.1%, 90% of them treat groups as nothing but means to expose themselves and they're probably not interested in communications. That leaves us with 0.01% of active, contributing members. But even that would be a gross overstatement, since the only ones who are posting to this group are you and I.

That's just my rule of thumb, and I call it Law of Logrithms. You can also apply it another way: 1% of the people get 99% of the total pageviews, and 99% of the people get 1% of the total pageviews, from a pure statistical view point. In the meantime, I will be updating the rules and I will also be providing additional details.

Hi again, actually, I am thinking... isn't the current group icon old? I was thinking it could use this one dodo from Pixiv created. What do you think about it?

I wonder, do you ever perhaps spread the words in the Groups, Chatrooms & Events subforum? That could be a good place to gain more people who might be interested in this, although I concern dA's base though, that subforum being mostly people seeking for roleplay groups and dA people itself being ugh, source of exacerbating stupidity of certain fandoms, lust, and so on.

As of me... I'm saving for a 3DS, to get to join them too one day. This is a good way to make friends, but I lack....

No. I will definitely NOT promote it anywhere on DA. People on DA lack the proper etiquette to host a group like this.

If you go to :iconinopoke:'s profile, you'll see that over 90% of people commenting are asking for requests. I just sent her a note on Pixiv telling her this (she doesn't understand English), she replied that she was surprised that DA is filled with people who ask requests but draw nothing themselves. By that I mean not even creating their own characters and then requesting others to draw them, but requesting a shi'iteload of Sonichu (Sonic + Pikachu) recolors that they traced off Google Images.

In case you think this is some :icontealdeerplz: material, I'm just trying to say that DA people lack creativity in general. That's why building my own branch of HandyMonsters here was unwise to begin with. That doesn't mean I'm going to abandon this group though. Even if I'm the last one standing, I'll stay here until... well at least my subscription runs out. ...which will not happen.

Alas, you got a point. This way there won't be anyone who knows this wonderful project, but dA is indeed ugh... just as accurate as that, or worse. I don't want to see stains of dApeople's idiocy impurely tainting over this project. Idk how to help further. Only if there are decent dA artists who knows and joins too.

I honestly never understand those who don't draw but has OCs and make requests.

I made this group into a closed group, which means you may only enter if invited, or I permit your request to join. This will prevent a lot of trouble while I futilely try to convince people that this is not a roleplay or fan group.

In other words...
